Statement of Appreciation

We would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to Senator Raffy Tulfo, Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Energy, for bringing to the attention of the Senate the ongoing chaos surrounding BENECO as a result of the decision of the National Electrification Administration (NEA) to appoint another General Manager for the Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO).

We would also like to thank Senator Win Gatchalian for emphasizing the autonomy of the people to choose their own General Manager and for emphasizing that NEA does not have the power to appoint a General Manager of an electric cooperative that is not ailing. We are also grateful to Senator Risa Hontiveros for recognizing BENECO as a top performing electric cooperative and that the leadership chaos concerning BENECO is one that must be looked into.
