The Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO) is part of the Federation of Cordillera Rural Electric Cooperatives (FeCoREC), Inc. The FeCoREC is composed of the Electric Cooperatives (ECs) of the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) namely: Abra Electric Cooperative (ABRECO), Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO), Ifugao Electric Cooperative, Inc. (IFELCO), Kalinga Electric Cooperative, Inc. (KAELCO), and Mountain Province Electric Cooperative, Inc. (MOPRECO).

FeCoREC aims to: “promote the goals of rural electrification, foster region-wide interest and involvement in programs and activities and encourage the growth of electric cooperatives as institutions in the rural area; establish tie-ups with other development-oriented programs in the rural communities and provide technical and management services for the advancement of its members; promote stability and sustainability of the electric cooperatives in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) through power supply aggregation and development of local renewable sources of power generation; and advocate stronger representation of the e;ctric cooperatives in the Cordillera Administrative Region on issues affecting the electric industry.”

The General Managers (GMs) and Board of Directors (BODs) of the ECs are the representatives to the FeCoREC. FeCOREC was registered to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) September 2019.

TRIVIA: THE FRANCHISE of BENECO was granted March 20, 1978. Five years after its birth in October 5, 1973. BENECO’s franchise will end in 2028.
