Representatives of the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) and BENECO conducted an ocular inspection today at the Forbes Park along South Drive, Baguio City to identify the area that the electric cooperative will adopt as part of its environment thrusts under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs.
The electric cooperative earlier signed a memorandum of agreement with the city government of Baguio for the said project after BENECO wrote the city to express its intent to adopt a part of the park. Floro Bastian, chief of CEPMO’s urban forestry management division, accompanied officers and members of BENECO’s Aspulan, the cooperative’s labor management council, community relations officers and the health and safety officer, for a tour of the specific area to be placed under BENECO’s ward.
Under the agreement, BENECO committed to undertake reforestation and re-greening activities at the adopted site pursuant to the urban forest management plan of the city. The CEPMO provided BENECO with 1,000 sq. meters of the park’s parcel no. 2 to take care for the next three years.
BENECO will maintain and protect existing vegetation, planting of seedlings, as well as protect the area from pasturing of animals and vandalism, and to conduct weeding, brushing, cultivation and other silvicultural practices.
